I know it probably won't make any difference to the sound, but I'd like to add the missing Defender 110 under bonnet insulation. However, cost is an issue, as always :)
Can anyone recommend a makeshift substance that can be used rather than the genuine land rover one? Some sort of thermal...
About to replace top of dash and grey plastic backing grill (that the front vent handles feed though) after installing stereo.
But can't remember which one goes on first? The top of the dash or the grill?
Got a 110 (1992) hardtop. Have insulated between the rear tub floor rails with 6mm closed cell foam but am unsure whether it's worth laying some 10mm ply on top of that so that the floor doesn't bend out of shape when I stand on it.
Do you think it's necessary to line the floor with a board as...
Sorry to bring this up again, but need to confirm something.
Just rand a local garage who said that the entire gearbox (LT77, by the way) would have to be removed to get the broken switch out. Is this true or can it be done another, less fussy way?
Dealer says that part ALR4770 has been superceded by a new design, but has retained the same part number.
Got ALR4770 here, but it doesn't fit the old trim. So, rather than buying just the rubber trim (£7) you now have to buy the newly designed metal trim to fit the newly designed rubber trim...
Thought about it, but very nervous about cutting holes in that area without a template, especially the hole near the ignition and the sea of wires behind.
Also, have read that door installations (if possible for my model) will allow for larger speakers and provide a better sound.
Like this...
Got a 110, 200Tdi, 1992 and haven't decided where to install front speakers. Currently, there are no holes in the dash. Would prefer to install them into the doors, but not sure if they'll fit, or what size and what mounts I'll need. Any takers?
Probably. Nothing would surprise me ;)
Chassis seems fine. Did hammer test before buying. It's been covered in black goo on the outside, but I don't think the internal has been touched. Bit concerned as there is build up of mud in some parts, which I reckon will dampen and rot it from the...
Ah, good to know. Just finished the wiring. Took number plate earth straight to body rather than splicing into another earth going to the other side. All works nicely now.
Next job is to wire up the tow bar electrics, which a previous owner kindly cut through with a pair of scissors and didn't...
IT'S ALIVE, ALIVVVVVVE!!!!!!!!!!
Just finished running the bypass and guess what? It only bloody damn well works.
Thanks for everyone's help. Couldn't now see what I'm demolishing in reverse without you :D
For future reference (in case it helps anyone else):
Realised that wire going from...
