    Got stuck again !!!!!!!

RE the posts about the VCU - IMHO a seized VCU will give you more traction on very slippy surfaces in a straight line - so even if it is seized - it's not the cause of your problem.

Thor Crank Position Sensor special tool.

Hi Folks - my old girl (99 Thor 4.6) has had an intermittent engine glitch followed by gearbox fault message and once took ages to hot start - I read the codes and "111 engine speed not plausible" was the result. I can safely say my Crank Position Sensor is failing (starting with the usual hot...

    Sport hse 2.7 vs 4.4 l322 vogue

Nice engine - better than the 3.0. Bimmer lump - but I don't see the point of buying a rebodied Disco 3 - just buy a Disco 3 and get the extra practicality thrown in. IMHO the L322 is a nicer car.

    Wanted big alloys

I don't like most hacked about mongrels - but the headlights and grill look smart.

Cam run in proceedure v8 thor

Just don't let it idle - cam wear is highest at idle - cams are lubricated by building up a hydroscopic wedge of oil between the lobe and follower due to the relative difference in speed between the parts. once the cam rotates as far as the nose of the lobe, that wedge breaks down and spills...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I would interpret squiffy to mean boss-eyed rather than out of height alignment.

    Wanted big alloys

P38s wander enough without having big wheels. Why not go for the full effect and just unbolt your steering wheel - you won't be needing it.

    P38 Camshaft

If the cam is heavily worn it's likely all your plain bearings (big ends and mains) will need replacing from swarf damage - plus the rocker shafts and rockers. A new cam and new OEM lifters is the only sensible way to go.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

When I was younger and fitter I used to lift Rover V8s on my own - couldn't lift a Ford Pinto 2 litre though!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Left my side lights on in the car park all day (10 hours) that'll teach me for not topping up my washer fluid - I've got used to the angry beep when I turn my ignition off - but this time little did I know it was a "you've left your lights on you pillock" beep. My heart sunk as I approached the...

    Off road in a P38 ?

The main problem with LSDs is you usually have to replace tyres in axle pairs - so if you get an irreparable puncture - that TWO tyres you have to replace. The later four wheel TC on the P38 is a great get out of jail free card - it will save you in most cross axle situations - but - if...

    Off road in a P38 ?

You've probably only got two wheel TC - the later 4 wheel TC is design for exactly this situation. Yep, not as good as diff locks but it'll usually get you out of trouble. When cross-axled like that your best bet is to get on the throttle and leftfoot brake at the same time which will transfer...

Engine trouble..big time! any ideas welcome

I'm talking about the poor pick up - a rover V8 - even with 1 or 2 cylinders down - usually run acceptably well if a little lumpy and down on power.

Engine trouble..big time! any ideas welcome

If you have got a cracked block - the only product which will (and does) work is Irontite ceramic motor seal - if you follow the instructions to a T. It WILL wreck your water pump (little ceramic particles will make it past the seal and wreck the bearing) so replace that again after about 3...

    Have you misfuelled it?

    getting cheaper to run

Sounds like you've got a rather pessimistic fuel gauge considering the petrol holds 100 litres and the diesel 90 - refills cost me around £100 from the orange light.
