    td5 tyres

BFG AT's are THE BEST! Good grip, good wear, and a good all-rounder. You may find that the tardy response is because the tyre thing is done to death on here, have a go with the search facility...

Are Disco drivers more intelligent, or just more considerate?

I still do have a motorbike without turning lights on it. It only has 1 headlight, and no front fogs (so no chance of braking rule 226 of the highway code is there)...

Are Disco drivers more intelligent, or just more considerate?

Absolutely...is it legal? It's NOT legal to drive with your fogs (front or rear) in decent visibility... So, are these "corner assist" devices flouting the law? When you're on an uphill junction, any such lights are bad news (if you;re opposite the driver with corner assist). An extra pair...

Are Disco drivers more intelligent, or just more considerate?

Some cars (I have seen on Merc, BMW & Fiat) have "Headlamp Assist - automatic headlamp activation with Cornering Assist". This means that when you turn (say) a sharp left (maybe with your indicator on), that the lft-hand front fog light comes on to help you see around the corner (don't fall...

Are Disco drivers more intelligent, or just more considerate?

I did a 240 mile drive today, in snow, rain & generally crap conditions, even saw 2 guys off the road on Rannoch Moor. As we all know, it's an offence to drive with fog lights (front of rear) on when visibility is OK (over 100 metres...which means all the time in Blighty). I did a straw...

TD5's - are they worth it?

Louise, £4k should get you a 2001 or 2002 TD5 with high-ish milage. Don;t worry about the milage tho...a well-looked-after model with high milage is better than a hack with low miles. 2002 had a lot of problems fixed (such as plastic dowels in the head), and is a good buy...

    core plug sprung a leak

I guess your leak is too big for a radweld-type repair? I had a slight leak from a core plug: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/td5-water-jacket-threaded-plug-55692.html Bought some radweld-type-stuff stuff which I added to the header tank, and it's been OK since...

    Dilemma

£4000 will buy a mid-age TD5 (2002 ish). Get a good one, and you'll be fine. You can do a lot of TD5 servicing yourself, but would probably need to get a "tame" independant to do the things you can't do and stamp the book...

How much brakefluid to bleed a Disco TD5?

I used 1 litre. Using the bleed sequence advised, it seemed to pull through clean liquid in all caliper bleeds. I have seen another website claiming "three quarts" if you're filling a system from completely empty!
