    Off road basic essentials?

decent tyres decent recovery points front and rear your own rope and shackles. (24mm nylon). ropes have some give in them and dont shock either vehicle. Everything else is optional, but obviously drive to the vehicle and driver ability :D Nowt worse than someone asking to be recovered on a P&P...

    Harder or Longer??

off road is my only consideration. im completely unfussed as to its road manners. i never said otherwise :p i need some springs to support the weight of my landie now it has all kinds of heavy metal crap attached to it..... longer or harder? or both?

    Harder or Longer??

So i may be being thick here :D Given the weight of the landie and with standard height and weight (175lb sq/in @ fr) springs it looks pretty low especially at the front. the springs arent old, just not man enough i think. So to preserve as much articulation as i can (it already handles...

    Anyone been to Silverdale 4x4?

caverswall quarry, more often called weston coyney or tick hill is fine with AT's. Its a sand quarry so not much mud and good drainage. some nice rocky sections and a lake in the middle (2-4 feet)

    Harder or Longer??

So im running flatdog standard height, standard weight springs on the 90 and the articulation is pretty good. the downside is that since ive stuck all manner of heavy steel bits on it and the winch its looking a little low, especially at the front end. the vehicle also has koni +2 dampers on it...

    Anyone been to Silverdale 4x4?

yeah its a good site. been many times. you need mud tyres, the more extreme the better and decent diff clearance to get around as its pretty difficult terrain. these are the guys that run it Explore Off-Road .com - Professional Off-Road Training and adventures. Beginner tuition,Expeditions.

    What Rivnut/Nutsert Tool?

Not sure. ID have to go have a look. Tbh though if you need something as big as m10 then maybe a rivnut isn't the best fixing? And as the rivnut gets bigger or you need steel or stainless rivnut s they can be pretty hard to set. I've found them best for non load bearing blind side fixings like...

    STT's or Duratrac's for a 90?

STt are a mud tyre and look more extreme than duratrac. Those goodyear ones look like the more extreme end of all terrains. So is it off road and mud, or better on road you want?

New rear door doesn't have lock hole!

Yeah. Just worried ill drill it slightly off centre and it will look crap. I've got a step drill etc.

New rear door doesn't have lock hole!

Sounds like a series latch requires a series body latch. I could change this but ID then be hoping it fits in the same mount holes and same position.... Can of worms, so maybe easy to just drill out the hole as best I can.

New rear door doesn't have lock hole!

Gotcha. Sounds like just drilling the hole is going to be least work.

New rear door doesn't have lock hole!

Does it fit with the defender latch on the body?

New rear door doesn't have lock hole!

Yeah I know. Just don't fancy my chances of it not looking like a hash. Which made me wonder if I could fit the catch without the lock? If they dont drill out the hole when they make it, then it must be because maybe old series don't have a lock? Can I fit a catch without a lock. I don't...

New rear door doesn't have lock hole!

Just realised my new rear door doesn't have a hole for the key lock. Can you fit the latch mechanism without the lock bit? Will it fit with the defender latch on the body? It's a 94 200tdi 90 and the door is an eBay special.
