SU carbs and auto choke help please

Hi Percy, I have an old set of SU carbs with a manual choke on them. I see you are on Glos - if you fancy a drive down to Glastonbury you can have them FOC if you want to convert to manual

    Why V8, Whynot Diesel?

G'day Deano, You can have diesel for practicalities - I'll grant you that. Usain Bolt needs to cool down after a 100m's - I rather be him than one of those long distance runners I'm not sure that Kylie can cook - but I... - you get my point I bet no-one has ever walked up to you in a petrol...

    Why V8, Whynot Diesel?

Why a V8 - simple - you measure a mans wealth by the number of spark plugs he owns - not by the number of diesel injectors.

SU carbs and auto choke help please

Hi Percy, My SU's had manual choke so not experience of them. From Googling, it appears that you have an FASD Autochoke system, if you google that are are quite a few helpful ideas. Best of luck

3.5 v8 engine efi or carbs

For the good of the order, I measured fuel in vs mileage - 35L gets 120 miles.

    Throttle return spring

I cannot speak for the accuracy of the statement, but on the Ashcroft Transmission website they state the following; If the vehicle is a Disco I or Range Rover Classic under no circumstances drive with the kickdown cable disconnected, as this will cause premature autobox failure...

    Throttle return spring

On the kick down cable, I've been playing with mine for a little while now. I have the ZF 4HP22 box fitted. The kick down cable not only changes gear when the accelerator is fully depressed but it also seems to change the point at which the gears change in relation to how far the throttle is...

    Distributor Cap Falling Off

I have got some nails but they are not stainless so didn't think I should use them - or do you mean the glue :)

    Distributor Cap Falling Off

Hi all, Happy New Year. Strange problem, on a few occasions now, when starting up I hear a popping noise (first time I thought it was a little backfire) coming from the engine bay. When I looked in the engine bay, the distributor cap was either totally off or at least the two clips were...

3.5 v8 engine efi or carbs

Hi, sorry for slow reply - as far as economy goes - I just don't know - but I think it is around 15 mpg.. I tend to just lie about it - saves a lot of conversations....

3.5 v8 engine efi or carbs

Hi, I have just had a Weber carb fitted to mine - I am totally happy with it. Probably, almost certainly, you will get better performance from EFI - but for reliability and simplicity - the carbs are great. I'm in Somerset if you want a go to find out.

New doors for my 90 has anyone bought and fitted these?

I have fitted these to mine - see pic. I think they are pretty good, I did buy the trim bits for the inside, but in the end, I think the doors look better without them. My beef is with the windows, they just do not open easily at all - so still that you cannot possibly open them whilst...

Free to collector - SU Carbs

Hi All, Just had my std carbs replaced for the Edelbrock ones - great result - loads of power. If any of you fellow V8 chaps would like the original SU's and find yourself near Glastonbury, I'd be delighted to give them a new home. From what I can tell, they are the original ones, the 90 was...

    Exhaust upgrade?

Thanks for the info - I've been driving it for a bit now, actually it seems to be good enough, so will probably leave it until the one it has wears out.

    Exhaust upgrade?

Many thanks for that - new carbs are not yet bolted on, so probably best plan is to run it for a while and see if I get the performance I want. Cheers

    Exhaust upgrade?

Hi all, I have upgraded my 3.5 to a 3.9 and now am fitting the Edelbrock carb to give it a bit more beans. The exhaust I have on it is the original 3.5 part - the pipes look very small - to improve performance would it be worth upgrading to something a bit bigger - any recommendations? Cheers
