Hi Norseman, thanks for the explanation. Do you know what is adjusted by a specialist - 40 would be better - I live in Somerset driving on country roads, 50 is a normal road speed, so with my setup it changes gears quite a bit. Cheers again.

Hi, what carbs are you using, some of the SU's (I think) may have a return pipe - so over pressure is not an issue. I had a facet pump fitted when I converted my V8 to an Edelbrock carb.

Hi Pete, I have a 3.9 but with an Edelbrook carb - happy to take a pic of my setup if that helps. I didn't have any success with the carbs from my SU 3.5 carbs on the 3.9 - I didn't get much benefit from the bigger engine. Engine was transformed by putting the Edelbrook carbs on it.

Thanks Norseman - so it is entirely possible that the gearbox is working as intended - albeit working correctly for a different vehicle :) The gearbox came of a Mk2 Discovery, so all settings have been inherited.

Hi all, took the Landy in to have the LPG sorted and mentioned problem to mechanic. The problem was the crankcase breather hose connected to the wrong place and giving a small backfire and lifting the cap. Hose is now moved and all is well.
