Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Is it not possible to pull out the pump and replace that piece of tube? Running fine now that the tank is full. No problem even after an overnight break, starts up immediately as before. Matt

    L322 lost 4th and 5th gears

The caravan will put more strain on the gearbox and make it run hotter. If there is a problem with the cooling system (for the 'box) or oil is low / in need of a change, then the extra strain will highlight any problems, which may not be obvious under normal conditions. As has been...

    Advice sought, P38

If you do a search on eBay you'll find an EAS 'kicker' which plugs into the EAS diag port and 'kicks' the EAS out of hard fault mode. No PC or software required. Matt

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Had I not been using it for a good few months I would agree, I've got going on for 20 years experience in IT now so I've been around plenty of Windows releases! but it really is a big step forward for MS. It runs pretty much as well as XP on similar spec machines that Vista couldn't...

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Been out and started her from cold with a full tank - fired up straight away no problem and no bubbles. Think I'll fit a new lift pump as I'm planning a 3 month 'expedition' so prefer to get everything sorted now rather than break down in the middle of nowhere! Matt

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Win7 is bloody fantastic (even better than Mac OS.X IMHO). Was running the beta and then RC on my old laptop for ages - got Vista off as quick as possible!! Matt

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Just realised RAVE doesn't work if you have a Mac!! Will have to wait until my copy of Win7 turns up and I get it installed on here.

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

I'll have a look later on. Just been out and filled her up. Popped the bonnet and don't see any air bubbles now, but going to leave her for an hour or so and go out to try again so will see if I get the same thing with a full tank. Matt

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Did try that, but got bored with dead-end links so gave up! I thought it was actually on the forum somewhere. I'll have another go! Cheers, Matt

    Range Rover P38 headlight conversion

Not my cup of tea, but looks like you've done a good job. Noticed that Simmonites seem to sell all their 2nd hand P38's with this conversion already done. Matt

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

P.S. I keep hearing that RAVE is available on this forum, but I can't find it - can anyone point me in the right direction?

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Popped out to the shops last night and noticed that she took longer to start than normal (which kind of prompted me to look at the leak off pipes). Came to start her this morning and took ages to get her going, lots of spluttering and then finally came to life. Popped the bonnet and lots of...

Spec of injector run off tubes on P38 DSE?

Just decided to have a look at them as it came up in another post, and something I'd forgotten to check (since they are hidden under plastic!) when I had a general look around. They are all looking a bit knackered and a couple look like they are about to wear through, so going to replace the...

Topping up Auto box on P38...

Supposed to stop a load being applied to the 'box. Don't ask me - I just followin' the instructions! Matt

Brake lights permanently on and suspenstion won't go down

Definitely related. The EAS won't move whilst the brakes are applied - unless the vehicle is moving (same goes for an open door) over a certain speed (not sure what!) to ensure the vehicle is at least level when driving. Sort out what is causing the brake lights problem - probably a faulty...

Topping up Auto box on P38...

Sorted it this morning - was a bit dark last night by the time I'd fitted everything. Had to cut one of the pipes off in the end to undo one end. Fill plug key is 8mm on mine. I had measured how much ATF came out during the change, so I knew approx how much to put back in! Took about...

99 facelift onwards I assume it means by 'later models' but unspecific.

    New and stuck!

Pretty much! Plus those people with L322's haven't generally got to the stage of doing DIY work on them, so there isn't much info around for DIY'ers at the moment. try rangerovers.net - usually has most DIY fixes covered if they are known. Matt

P38 Battery...anyone else had this issue..?

For sure! I'll take the battery back next time I'm up that way - got it from the supermarket as it was the cheapest one around by far, and in one of the French mags I read recently they tested a range of batteries and found the ones from that supermarket outperformed even expensive branded ones...

Topping up Auto box on P38...

Spent bloody ages searching for it - plus auto box levels are not mentioned anywhere in the manual. Finally discovered somewhere online on an obscure website that the later P38's don't have one! Matt
