I know somebody who used to mix kero 50/50 with deisel and never had any problems,the reason he mixed it was he was told that kero wouldn't lubricate the pump internals ect if used neat.Whether this is true or not i don't know.

I'll be ordering new spring caps,springs and the little caps that sit on top of the valve stem tommorow as even though its more time off the road i'd be stupid to take a chance on them failing and dropping a valve as you say.Also noticed after looking in the manual there should be spring seats...

Not sure which type bulbs in there but if you take it out and can't get one post a pic as i've got loads of different bulbs from dismantled stereos,int switches ect and i'll see if i can match one up.

Is yours an automatic or manual as if its auto it could be the start inhibitor switch on the selector.

Finally got to the bottom of the problem today,seems as if somewhere in its life some kind of alarm/immobiliser has been fitted and then later removed and the wires re-joined.The main ignition feed to the ignition switch had come apart behind the lower dash panel where it hadn't been properly...

Workshop manual says 25- 55psi with engine warm at normal operating speeds.you could try changing the oil if it hasn't been done for a while and see if that helps.

Haven't been able to check this out yet as the cars in work so will be checking the cable tommorow,also found out where the ignition relay is so can check that too.

I've only checked the battery and the ignition switch/wiring so far Sean as the fault is like turning the key with the battery disconnected (its not;) ).Deffinatly will be checking the starter wire though as the clutch was done about 3 weeks ago so could dodgy.

Just as i pulled up in work today mine decided to empty the tank onto the carpark:( .didn't overheat but did a block test and theres loads of pressure in the system as soon as you start even from stone cold so is looking like head gasket.

The easyest and cheapest things to start with would be to check/change the gearbox oil and check the alignment of the gearstick bias plate as this can cause stiff selection.

Mines just started leaking through the cap,not really loosing much water but i'm hoping its just the cap and nothing worse:confused:

You will have difflock on yours definatly,the rangerover transfer box has only high - neutral - low as the difflock is automatic as in a viscous coupling.yours has manual difflock as said before and looking at the pics you've got a bit of freeing off to do there!

I think they are refering to your engine as being based on a marine unit as it will be the Vm unit if its a factory deisel,the transfer box is made by borg warner and shouldn't be to difficult to find.You'll need one from a rangerover rather than a discovery/defender as the rangerover one uses a...

Sounds like you was lucky the pipe went when it did,hell of a price on the ready made pipes!

As mot's go the way i'd look at it is - If its there and leaking/faulty theres a chance it could be a fail.However if its not fitted they can't test it so should be no problems.Discoverys don't seem to have them from what i've seen.

Thanks for that,after checking the price on them i think i'll be leaving mine off.Never anything heavy in mine anyway.
