Bought a 2.25 starter motor recently?

Hi! My 2.25 petrol starter motor is on the way out, looking to order a new one. I can only find genuine mega expensive ones or Britpart or worse "replacement [non specific = Britpart]" Anyone bought a half decent one recently, can you point me in the right direction? Ta.

    Am I mad?

Almost, my '73 SIII is my daily driver and only vehicle, I do have an overdrive though! I live in a flat and have to do all my repair work in the road if that helps! I keep meaning to buy a 'sensible car' as well, never seems to happen though.

    clutch not de-clutching very well.

Hi, I've been tinkering with my clutch recently, had a leaking clutch master cyl. Bought a new slave at the same time as I heard they tend to follow shortly the slaves are a standard part can't see why the push rod would be any shorter? Saved myself the hassle of doing it twice by buying...

    Charging problem. Help please.

Not hot on electrics. But, i had trouble staring my 88 a while ago and the alternator wasn't feeding the battery on start up, because a wire had come loose from the charge light bulb housing. Once this was re-attached securely no more problems. I assumed the circuit is dependent on this...

Can someone identify this part please?

Remove the clips at either end. Cut through the hose and pull each end off separately.

Can someone identify this part please?

Looks like 594629 to me. Heater Hose - S3 (Heater Control V - Land Rover Part 594629 The assembly on the right of your pics that the pipe connects to, is the heater control valve. If you're lucky enough to have a decent motor factor (and another car to take the old pipe in!) They should have...

    Half Shaft Manufacturers?

Hello, Anyone fitted new half shafts recently? Several very handy guides to changing them that I'll be reading on the bus home  but can't find anything on makers. Seems LR, Allmakes, Bearmach and Britpart are available, so that leaves a choice of Bearmach or Allmakes unless the LR...

Leaf Spring centre bolts What thread???

M8 I bought new spring dowels recently. Bit of an emergency so I ordered both the metric and imperial one, in case the head of the dowel didn't fit the axle on one. Turned out they were identical bar the thread of course, both fitted the hole. I went with the metric one because I had M8...

Got my MOT at last :)

Got mine today too! Retest consisted of talking about old landies while the MOT man smoked a rollie and took a very quick look at a new polybush, phew. Made me laugh cos the retest was free but they raised an £0 invoice so I will get a postal reminder of the MOT date. It's emblazoned on my mind!

    mad moment

Hooray! Well done. Yes, one of those switches does put the dash clock lights on. Might not be the bulbs. I had a poor connection in the switch, but a multimeter with a continuity bleep is very helpful, you can test the bulbs like this too. I'd reccommend buying the LR Repair Operation Manual...

    Leaf Spring Reassembly to Chassis.

Thanks again chaps. I refitted today. Surprisingly painless, 20 mins to get the leaf spring back on. I followed the sequence advised, front pin, U-bolts then rear shackle. I'll flesh it out with some detail in case another leaf spring novice like me is Googling and flapping one wet Sunday...

    Starter motor packed in?

Sounds like the Solenoid. If you painted the chassis recently, Its very easy to knock the connecting wires off the bottom of the solenoid when fiddling about underneath. If you get a new solenoid remember it's earthed by it's bracket, you can't have it floating in the engine bay to test while...

    Leaf Spring Reassembly to Chassis.

Thanks chaps. Aha OK, I knew about leaving everything loose initially, I was envisaging assembling all shackle pins loose, 'loading' the vehicle, perhaps having to jack the spring up to the axle and then fastening the U bolts. Mentally I am wondering about alignment of the rear shackle if I...

    Leaf Spring Reassembly to Chassis.

Hello, Waiting for a new leaf spring dowel (old one rust welded to the axle) has given me some time to think about reassembly of the complete spring to the vehicle! The manual talks about either running a chain under a trolley jack and over the chassis, makes sense, but their second option of...

    s111 starting

Hello mate. I had trouble starting from a faulty fuel pump. Took it apart and the spring on the diaphragm had moved off centre. Repaired it but then put a new pump in, no further probs. It was obvious the inline fileter wasn't filling with fuel, I double checked by 'priming the carb' and that...
