clutch not de-clutching very well.

Hi all, I have recently had a 3.5 V8 put into my wagon, the power issue has been sorted (choking power), but I have an issue with the clutch now. I think the slave push rod is too short as the clutch pedal is almost all the way down before it disengages, and has been since the engine mod'. Recently I have had to pump it a few times to get anything from it at all. Is there a longer pushrod that I can fit or is this not the problem at all, or is there more that one issue here?
Please all Landy guru's, let me pick your brains for a remedy.

You sure it doesn't just need bleeding?

Sounds like it's either lost fluid or the slave/master cylinder is on it's way out,check the fluid level in the reservoir.

Having bled it through, there was a little bit of air, it has removed the sluggishness of it. Is there a way to bring the clutch pedal up a bit more, it has the correct push rod in it for the slave, is there a different rod that could be fitted to bring the "bite" further up the pedal travel please? It's been really low since the moification, possibly a cause of a mix match of clutch plates etc.

I've been tinkering with my clutch recently, had a leaking clutch master cyl.
Bought a new slave at the same time as I heard they tend to follow shortly the slaves are a standard part can't see why the push rod would be any shorter? Saved myself the hassle of doing it twice by buying decent OEM parts!

I reckon there could still be some air in there, can be a bit tricky to bleed fully. I use a one man bleed valve and even then sometimes weight down the clutch pedal overnight to push out the remaining air, this works well but the pedal needs to be fully to the floor.
