    VCU Torque test results

My curiosity has got the better of my fear of this thread. Oh dear :) I do tests at work in my Uni (not on this type of thing tho - I break fibreglass - but the thought processes are the same in terms of standardisation etc) so this kind of thing just interests me. I must admit I haven't read...

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Just an update for anyone who comes across this via a search: I took the brake light switch off and sprayed it liberally with WD40 It looked like it could be taken apart - there were some clips - but as I didn't know what springs would fly out or which clips I would break I just sprayed WD40...

    CV-Joints?

Will have a look when I get a chance. Actually, I think I have a noise from both sides. It seems to becoming from outer edges of front (subjective I know). Will also have to investigate to see if I can feel any vibrations from gear stick.

    CV-Joints?

Next question: Why would an inner joint only make noise on full lock? Something to do with it being more extended or retracted on full lock?

    CV-Joints?

Thanks mucho, Been driving around last few days and it very rarely does it, and only then on a very steep ful lock corner, so I will keep an eye and do it in the nearish future I will also carefully check gaiters beforehand A genuine Q: If it only happens on full lock, isnt this when the outer...

    CV-Joints?

Hi, I've recently taken the prop off of my new to me 2001 Td4 5-Door (it has mismatched tyres with new ones on front, it doesn't get very icy in Lisbon, it felt a bit tight in reverse on full lock, to be safe, my choice etc) Afterwards (it was probably there before I took prop off as well) I...

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Re Rave: I've got triple boot Win10, Xubuntu & Debian Testing (last 2 Linux). I use Linux 100% at home (still learning, great fun) and Windows for work I mounted the iso easily enough in Linux, but was asked for passwords I tried Wine but got nowhere - never had much luck with that I then tried...

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Thanks grumpy. I'll try another switch and see what happens. Do they just twist to unlock? (I had a quick peek under the pedal and it looks like it might be but I havent got a Haynes nor had time to work out how to mount the rave iso on linux yet) Leigh

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Ah! The brake lights work, so this means the switch is not the culprit for the TC and descent lights? Electrics sometime work in mysterious ways so this might not be such a stupid question as it seems. Then again it might :)

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Apart from the annoyance is there any problem with these lights coming on? Will it bugger anything up if I dont change the brake light switch for a week or two?

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Thanks, My experience here with main dealers over the years (LR, ford, VW) has been exclusively extortionate prices and extremely bad and arrogant service. I have since found by chance an excellent electrical parts place on the other (S) side of the river called Simporal They told me there were...

Hello from Lisbon / Portugual-based members?

Hi, I have recently bought (our 2nd) Freelander - Mk1 Td4 2001 5-door Just to say hello again. Hello. Are there any members who are Portuguese / Portugal-based? I'd like some inside info on which are the preferred parts companies (and even local forums, dare I ask?) in Portugal, since its been...

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Thanks, I will put a new one on. Presumably you meant 'cheap' if not bought from LR. Do you know of a reliable place to get these online? I am in Lisbon but can also get things sent on from a UK address. I do know how to Google, but I am sure there will be hundreds of ebay like options

Traction Control / Hill Descent light

Hi, So, here we go :) I think i need to spray &/or replace my brake light switch but these two only come on when I brake and then go off (after a 'while'). Should they never come on under normal driving on the road?

Missing Post? Once bitten twice stupid

Thanks. Will look to see what I should have looked for .... my fault for late posting but it came up suddenly. Just bought 2001 Freelander Td4 95K miles. Engine sounds good. Drives well. Clutch seems good. No drivetrain or other clunks or whiny noises. Slight resistance in reverse on full lock...

Missing Post? Once bitten twice stupid

Thanks Import is not worth it, despite all the financial apparent incentives- PT charges huge import tax (called registration fee to avoid EU fines) and driving a RHD here is a pain (yes I have done all combinations for years at a time and my wife has to drive it in Lisbon - If you have driven...

Missing Post? Once bitten twice stupid

Hi, We had a 1999 Freelander 2L Di about 8 years ago Had problems with drive-train, water pump, core plugs, etc etc and finally it died with a turbo internal oil leak runaway on the motorway as my wife was taking her employees to a meeting Well obviously I want another and am going to look at...

    Shock Absorbers

Thanks, I can find them here, but often prices in the UK including shipping are much cheaper. Any brand will do, as long as they are reasonable quality. I will pm bmp42 too.

    Shock Absorbers

Anyone know a good supplier of shock absorbers? I would prefer someone who can deliver abroad (Portugal), on-line easier but not essential. The wife only drives around town, so doesn't have to be high-spec. Also, anyone know of reasonable type prices for shocks? Ta Bife
