    My First V8!

Ok so my steam cleaner arrived and I guess I somewhat over estimated its power.. So that can be washed and used as someone's Christmas present! I got the gunk out on a paint brush and cleaned some of the dirt off it isn't spotless however so ill have another go at some point. I did have a...

    My First V8!

Not a lot happened since my last update, I have taken the wiring loom off ready to clean the engine. Does anyone know of a cheap engine stand? I have looked at one in machine mart, seems to be ok.

    My First V8!

Ordered a steam cleaner so that should be here Monday to clean the engine. One thing I have been reading is that late engines had an immobiliser ? Will this be a possibility or will it be a problem if it is there. And any info on potential places to look out for damage areas would be appreciated.

    My First V8!

Ah thanks! Just stripped the loom off so I can get it washed hopefully the jet wash will get some off with some gunk degreaser. When it's cleaned down I am going to knock a frame up so I can push it about in the garage it's currently outside and don't want to strip too much off until its...

    My First V8!

Evening All, After finishing my series 3 project I have some free time so I purchased another project but ended up selling it to various mates for bits so I am left with this 3.9 V8 of unknown condition so I have decided to get it running and tart it up a lot ready for another project in the...

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

Thanks, I havent been able to get out to work on it yet but literally yesterday i searched for other peoples wiper problems and i found that one should be under or at least flip the roller over. I will try and get on it later.

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

FoxyJam, thanks for the info, when i stripped the series down i removed everything off the bulkhead and took the wiper assembly to bits. My guess is that i have moved one of the wiper spindles while it has been disconnected and i put it together not lining it all up again. Im planning on...

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

Problem solved. I went to John Craddocks and got a genuine Landrover 200Tdi clutch cover and this didnt pull up any different to the britpart one but left the new one on for obvious reasons. In the end we modified the clutch fork to push the bearing 12mm closer to the pressure plate works a...

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

Ok I must have fitted it the correct way round don't think I would have got it wrong as it would hit the flywheel. Ill pull the gearbox off tomorrow and check that as the likely hood is the clutch cover needs changing or something else is at fault.

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

There is a right way round? The plate looked to be equal I.e can be put on either way round.

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

Ok, i looked back at the pictures of the 200tdi when i picked it up and the clutch plate forks did stick out considerably more than the ones on the engine at the moment, my guess is that this is my problem. I have fitted an extension piece to the fork shaft but this just made the fork hit the...

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

I don't believe there is a hole in the clutch arm we have only just built it and there wasn't one there when we put the new clutch in. The cover is brand new, off a discovery 200tdi it's britpart which may be my problem? Should the arms stick out at an angle I believe they should but can't...

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

That is with the release shaft in the correct position for a standard series pressure plate which was working before the new engine it is a discovery clutch cover. And this is where the pedal is about 30 mm away from the floor plate and jut doesn't give enough travel to operate the clutch.

What have I missed out? Clutch won't work

I have just come to drive my series 3 200tdi out if the garage and the clutch won't work it's fully bled and has a new master and slave cylinder. On further inspection the clutch release bearing doesn't reach the pressure plate to release until the pedal is right at the bottom of its swing...

Hello All, Right well i started this project in march and am nearing the end of the build so i thought i would share the highs and lows of my build on here as this is where i get most of my inspiration. The project was funded by this 1983 Series 3 that we bought initially to use as a donor...
