    TD5 Fuel Pressure problem

Steve - did you find a supplier for just the valve or did you buy the whole pipe fitting ? I'm being a tight old git with my discovery ! Thanks Chris

    Discovery TD5 Diff filler plug

Are the two filler plugs plastic ? The front filler plug is proving impossible to remove so I was considering banging a screwdriver through the centre slot to try and remove it. Anybody got a better idea ? Thanks

    TD5 engine missfire???

Same problem with mine, turned out to be the vacumn pipe between the turbo outlet hose and the modulator, small crack letting air in

    TD5 Fuel Pressure problem

Why can you not refurbish the old one - took mine off and pushed a pin through it but made no difference to the starting problem. However there doesn't appear to be much more to the valve apart from an O ring. Yours puzzled.

2000 Disco XS, how much is it worth for spares/repairs

Disconnect the injector wiring loom ? - shouldn't be a problem if you are all standing around with fire extinguishers and wet rags. Take the quick release couplings off at the fuel cooler or filter ? Sometimes I wish I could keep mine going rather than try and figure out how to stop the bloody...

    Instant heat?

Check your thermostat is OK - like 1968unclefester I removed the viscous fan in my 2000 D2. Doesn't overheat even in a jam.

    discovery 2 wont start

Takled the top nut by removing inlet manifold, better than spending hours under the car, spent a few hours above it ! Chucked the top nut in the bin, everything seems fine so far !

    Misfiring 1985/86 RR V8

Folks - making considerable progress but still not sorted. Thanks for all the advice so far but.... Moved distributor round a least a couple of teeth and put the plug leads in the correct holes. Double checked position of rotor relative to TDC mark and fired her up. Runs but still fails under...

    Misfiring 1985/86 RR V8

Thanks for all the suggestions - progress has been slow and results even slower. Got a new set of leads and a coil and started replacing the nearside bank leads one at a time, complted that side and checked in the manual to make sure the routing was OK. Very puzzled for a while until I realised...

    Waste gate control valve

I was under the impression that the engine ECM sent a signal to the regulator / valve to open or close the wastegate. Bypassing this would render the turbo redundant as there would be little if any boost I think. Regards

Saint.V8 - great reply which made a lot of sense only no injectors on this one. Will be checking spark strength and if there is any arcing over the weekend, many thanks. Fett - how do i check if she is a tooth out ? Thanks Chris

    Misfiring 1985/86 RR V8

Car now idles well but when stationary and I floor the accelerator the engine dies. Will rev if I press accelerator gently. Happens whether the advance / retard vacuum tube is on or off. Is this still a weak spark scenario ?

    Misfiring 1985/86 RR V8

The electronic ignition is the OEM fitted one which was introduced about 1986. Thanks

    Misfiring 1985/86 RR V8

Thanks for the replies - couple of further points / questions: This car has electronic ignition so there is no condenser or cap (capacitor ?) to worry about as far as I am aware. Also are the Dizzy Bob weights the centrifugal weights in the distributor ? If so they are not shown in the parts...

    Misfiring 1985/86 RR V8

I am currently trying to sort out a friends 1985/86 V8 Range Rover. Initially it misfired and would not pull at all. I have cleaned all the low tension connections and replaced the ignition coil and vacuum hose from the carb to the distributor. We replaced the electronic ignition module with a...

    TD5 misfiring

Wiring loom clean. Disconnected the modulator but no change so I assume it is safe to conclude that the modulator has failed ? Thanks

    TD5 misfiring

Thanks for the suggestions - will look at the wiring loom also although I replaced it about 80k miles ago when oil managed to get into the ECU. Cheers
