    Immobilized discovery

Try getting it towed a few hundred yards away from where you have it at present. My D2 did exactly the same twice when I parked close to a high voltage underground cable. The first time I got it restarted after the adjacent factory started to close down, the second time I had some of the factory...

    discovery 2 td5 clutch failure

Could be the pushrod, mine wore out and pushed through the fork. Managed to remove it through the slave hole and guided a new one into place after pushing it into the slave cylinder first. The guide which was on the fork is long gone in the internals !!!

    How to remove starter motor

And when you get the top nut off throw it away, I haven't put it back on and no problems.

    viscous fan

I threw mine away about 4 years ago when it seized - waste of space in my opinion.

Who was the naughty mad4mud boys and girls off piste at W/E

He / they run a business - stop using it, don't recommend it, if you can identify vehicles report them, this #### needs to be stopped. I reported a bunch of middle aged men on monkey bikes, no helmets, no plates, belting around in Thetford Forest – hope they have been nicked ! Go find a friendly...

    Year of Manufacture Identification Numbers

A couple of days ago I found a thread on a forum which had a link to a site or another page which had exensive details on where to find the month / year of manufacture of most of the major parts of series land rovers (starter, carb, axles etc.). I didn't bookmark it and now can't find it again -...

How did you get the rear cam shaft seal off ? Had one sitting in the garage for the past year and have given up trying to replace it ?

Rollers ? I'm doing the rear brakes, not sure what the rollers are.

1952 Series 1 - Rear Brake Shoe Springs

Does anyone have the pdf section of the workshop manual for the brakes on a Series 1, 1952 ? Plenty of sites with the rest of the data but nothing on brakes. I can't understand how the springs and the adjuster on the backplate work together, my adjusters just go round and round, not attached to...

    Buying a disco td5

If it has 7 seats and converted to springs check with your insurance company - not convinced it's legal.

    Engine reliability question

260,000 miles, not trouble free (injector seals) but a great engine, had it from 60,000. Low 30's mpg, wouldn't go near a V8. EGR removed, viscous fan removed, catch tank for oil vapour.

    Air suspension faults

No idea why you would want to change from air to springs, air suspension easy to maintain / fix, looks after itself irrespective of what you have hitched on and you don't need to do battle with the insurance company especially if it's a 7 seater.

    Hid

My D2 has a headlamp levelling dial - never understood why though as air suspension and associated bits shoud keep everything level regardless of whats on the tow bar.

Viscous fan removal help please ??

Took my fan off about 5 years ago to do something and never bothered putting it back on again. Never overheats and stops mud and other sh*t being sprayed around the engine. May improve MPG but debatable.

    Td5 Fueling Problem

Air bleed valve or FPR. The latter failed on me without leaking and the Disco kept stalling and screamed when starting. Been through several bleed valves, on older TD5's it is in the outside, rear connection on the fuel filter, check if clean and in place.

    abs sensor ring

I assume you meant "can't repair them", but if I'm wrong I'd love to know how you did it. Cheers.

Are you guys talking about the same variant of Discovery ? TD5 (series 2) against a series 1 ?

Help! Engine cut out on dual carriageway...

Air bleed valve at the fuel filter - very similar problems and various garages suggested fuel, pump, regulator, etc., etc.. Take the pipe off and check, can be cleaned but my last one disintegrated so replaced it, about £15.

    new thermostat and more

The oil (vapour) is from the camshaft breather pipe, I have mine going into a catch tank and have plugged the inlet hose with a cork ! People go on about removing the EGR bit to improve economy but still allow oil to pass into and block up the intercooler.
