    Stripped radiator thread

Hi Phill, Right, so this may not actually be as bad as I thought it might be... The brass fitting is what I've munched, 3/4 of the thread is now useless.

    Stripped radiator thread

Thank you all so much for your help! Phill, I've just got home so I can't check- but please excuse my naivety... Does this mean that the stripped out connection is actually a removeable piece on the radiator end and I can just... replace it? o_O

    Stripped radiator thread

Correct, the seat has a very small bevel to it probably 0.5mm. it then has a recess where I assume a washer or 'O' ring sits... the fiotting itself is a steel tapered fitting.

    Stripped radiator thread

The problem I'm having is that the nut gets to a certain point and slips, so i can't get enough torque behind it to press the seal. I'm still unsure whether it needs an 'O' ring or a copper washer. :(

    Stripped radiator thread

Hi Lynall, Do the adapters replace the brass section that has threaded for mine or does it act as a sleeve/reducer for different pipe setups?

    Stripped radiator thread

Hi guys, The engine I have is a 200 tdi from a discovery 1. I have looked online for the cooling pipes to see what should be used but none of them match the ends of mine, I've attached an image below- mine are tapered at the end but all the others online seem to be round and have a washer on...

    Stripped radiator thread

Hi Grebby, Yes I did, but I'm worried the washer is too thick. I've been looking online and can't actually find anything to suggest there's a copper washer at all. The oil cooling hoses only appear to have rubber O rings?

    Stripped radiator thread

Hi guys, As the title suggests I've pulled a rookie. I tightened the oil pipe nut on to the brass thread and managed to strip 3/4 of the brass thread. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get enough torque behind the bolt to crush the copper washer? I can get it to a certain point before...

200 tdi oil inside timing belt housing

I've just got round to changing everything over, all the seals are done and the timing is all set. However I'm not too sure I've done it correctly. When I crank the engine over (by hand) it feels really stiff, is this normal? When I set the timing for the pump it was quite difficult to move the...

200 tdi oil inside timing belt housing

Would I be correct in thinking that the crank oil seal is the same seal used for the from casing as well?

200 tdi oil inside timing belt housing

Perfect thanks guys, I've looked online but again I'm struggling with part numbers. I had a look at corteco but can't find a supplier and they don't supply the front and rear crank seal on their website. I looked on turner engineering too and had the same results. The only ones that seem to do...

200 tdi oil inside timing belt housing

Amazing, you guys sure know your stuff! Every time I carry out a maintenance sweep I find out something new! Before I attempt to remove the timing pulleys is there anything I should know regarding setting the timing? I have got a timing pin in the fuel pump and flywheel and set the mark on the...

200 tdi oil inside timing belt housing

Hi Steve, thank you for your response. Where would I find these seals? I've got a 200 tdi from a discovery. Just want to make double sure I get the right parts. Also is Dayco a good replacement for belts?

200 tdi oil inside timing belt housing

Hi guys, Today I started a job I'd wish I hadn't... After what was meant to be a simple timing belt change has turned into a fiasco. Anyhow, as the title suggests I have oil inside the timing belt housing and it's fresh oil. Would anyone be able to tell me what the cause could be? Many thanks!

There's also a lot of soot/carbon that comes out of the exhaust when I put my foot down on start up, what would this indicate?
