    Heated screens and wiper qestions

It was a ****part rear blade I'm afraid. The plugs are there and so is the switch, but there are no elements in the screen and nothing connecting the screen to the plugs so definitely aftermarket. Anyone know how much it would cost to have a new screen fitted? I'll look into that fillament...

    Heated screens and wiper qestions

Hey guys, I replaced my rear wiper blade as it was only wiping along about 2/3 of its length, which left a very narrow clean bit! However the new one does the same bloody thing, anyone know of a fix for this? The rubber just ain't touching the glass on the last 3 inches of it! Also, my...

DD and I are going to have a stab at a Toyota engine Hippo. Any inupt would be cool.

I've seen an L series box bolted onto a KV6 in a comp safari build. I think it needed a custom shaft though. The truck belongs to Owl, he might know a thing or two. Yeh mate it just souds like it's less hassle and the T is a nice lump :).

If you're using an L series freelander gearbox, surely the IRD will just bolt back where it was originally? The only issue then is whether the T series sump clears the IRD bracket and how you can go about bolting it to the sump. Yes perhaps not smooth but certainly you won't have to change...

So unless I'm grossly mistaken it's going to be quite a bit smoother than the V6! 2000 RPM is crazy low for that much torque!

I though so. I really wish I could find the bloody power curves for it so I can see what kind of torque you get at low revs!!

I might be able to get away with an L series box then as I'm only running 265/70. I don't think it's going to struggle with the available torque from the 220T, or am I barmy??

DD and I both have bigger than stock tyres, DD's are especially big and stupid. I think we might be better off sticking with k series final drive as it would work out pretty close to stock L series at the tyre.

Hmmmm so quite a bit taller. Here are the power curves for both engines: I cant find one for the 220, I'll keep looking I've seen it somewhere before.

Can anyone have a look to see what the differenes in gear ratios and final drive is between the NASP and U spec PG1 gearboxes? It would be less faff to fit a 220T with an L series gearbox but I'm not sure it would have the grunt at how RPM to be nice with sich tall gearing.

Doesn't the IRD reduce the immediate torque seen by the gearbox aswell? I think 170ftlb is plenty and you'll have lots of power whenever you want it!

So in terms of nuts and bolts this all sound rather plausible, so why the fook has no one done it? I suppose most get the hump and get rid long before they think about it. What about looms etc? Will the MEMS3 ECU run the 220 injectors?

I say that's jolly interesting that is! So if all the part are so similar, why do people have so much trouble imagining how you're going to fit the IRD bracket to the sump? Shirley you just have to weld some sort of adapter to the sump and attach the IRD to it? Maybe it shares the L series sump?

Yeh that's a bit dissapointing. It looks like putting the T series in there would at least save the gearbox arsing. I suspect that like this guy you'd have to cant the engine to clear the IRD. Feckin thing. But I don't want to embark on another doomed project :(. I need another cup of tea and...

That was my initial thought, but DD reckon's it's not going to be much easier to fit a T series so might as well fit a really reliable lump. I'm still open to the t series f it really is an easier fit - certainly means no adapter plate. Just have to fit an L series bell housing :).

A fair bit, you'd most likely have to fit L series springs.

Hey guys, Long time no post, I been down t'pub wif durdy tratterers. The Hippo has sat dejected and ignored since september. I int selling it because it's tidy and there's nuffink wrong wi'it apart from the ****ty engine. Me and Diesel Do have been drinking lots of tea, and mulling over...

    cam belt and water pump

If you buy them from Euro Car Parts you can just return the one you don't need. We do it all the time. Both jobs quite simple, did mine both myself when I removed the EWP. Haven't driven the Hippo in months though. The battery must be dead as a dead duck by now.

    How loud is your 1.8?

We'll see, keeping the 4x4 is the tricky part as you know :). L series conversion would present its own challenges. Need to sort the disco first ;).

    How loud is your 1.8?

Nopes it's an SE, pretty much in the top end of the range. Shame it was wasted on this engine. If I don't end up selling it, it won't be my daily anyway so it might become a mule for a 220 turbo conversion or something. That would be fun.
