    Your opinions or advice please

I'd be tempted to go TD5 that has a particularly good service history. Reasoning? I would believe all the teething problems from the production line will have been sorted out whereas the TDCI may still throw stuff up and will be more expensive to repair. What ever you get, make sure its...

    auf_wiedersehen_pet's build thread.

you ruddy plonker Rob!! Give me a shout next time I'd have come over and done it/shown you how to do it! I completely overhauled the brakes/bearings and brake lines on someones disco last week, along with the amount of times I've had hubs off/axles apart on mine I can do wheel bearings with me...

if your carrying heavy loads go for some bearmach heavy duty blue springs. I've carried large amounts of chopped up timber in the back of mine as well as had a sankey on the back fully loaded and they don't half take the strain well! Also towed the best part of 2.5 - 3 tonne with bearmach HD...

The Story so far, My snotbag disco...

Hi Twinkletoes, Thanks for the positive comments! Running a heavy duty 2" lift at the moment and thinking of adding a 1" body lift as it does rub badly on articulation off road. I know a 2" body lift will clear the arches completely but I want a compromise so I can fit down greenlanes without...

Quirky things unique to your Landy..

it hates going into 2nd so I just pull away in second and use it as first. apart from that she's a pretty usual disco, rear doors don't lock/unlock, rear windows don't work, she leaks (water into the inside and oil out of the engine) and whenever I fix one bit of rust another appears!

Avoid Buying Discovery 2's from Scotland

 I really wish people wouldn't use old oil... its bloody dangerous! I just hope there's not too many motorcyclists near you!

its gonna be marmite I think :/ lol The cold and noise I can deal with... wet, I think not! Will just have to see how bad it is when I get it on the road, if not I'll get the missus to re-trim it with something funky :D Work is on hold currently as I have someone else's disco in for a...

    Building the ideal Tow car

I'd go for standard height heavy duty springs and some decent standard height shocks whilst your at it. As said, I'd be more interested in thorough servicing and maintenance personally!

quick update: Replaced battery with a new Optima Redtop, looked to replace the wire coming from the stop solenoid as its not the original. As I'm tracing it back I find an inline fuse holder... with a blown fuse  replaced the fuse and put the spring back into the stop solenoid, fired it...

Oh God! I've got the bug!!!

yer mean LZ isn't yer favourite?!:eek::eek:  a 2" lift won't make it any better off road, just makes you able to fit bigger tyres. Get some all terrain's/mud tyres and some under body protection and go have some fun before you spend a fortune!
