I find it amazing that someone can claim to have done a full engine transplant and not be able to recognise even the most basic of parts (top hose). Did the said car ever run again?

Cheers for that lot daft, have had the whole thing in bits (except stripping the pump itself) and it wont run. I'm assuming it worn out as per the second link. I cant be arsed to go through all that hassle to repair it, so will look for a new one. I think Chaser has a good point about...

Microcat only lists the intank sender unit and remote (rear wheel arch) pump for the car. Dont help much but about right for Land Rover I suppose

The only numbers i can find on the unit are WFX000200 and also 0239580230. These are VDO UK numbers who make it. Cant see any LR No, but will check on Microcat

Ok, here's an update. Having spoken with Ratty, he suggested a number of options. Upon banging the bottom of the tank, I could hear the pump 'try' to run but it sounded very slow and noisy before stopping again. At this point I stripped the whole thing out of the tank and began to take it...

nah, have got a 4 pin centre assembly lined up, needs bolting back to crownwheel. i'm gonna try to fit the sailsbury centre assembly to the std disco crownwheel and diff casting. Preload will be as disco

i'm lookin at putting a salisbury diff centre into a std disco casing and crownwheel. Not sure about any possible mismatch at the moment, but i'm sure i can get the 2 together some how :eek:

If you get a 300tdi diff with the 3 bolt flange, you will be able to swap it with the one from your original diff. Tis fun and games getting the centre plug out of a 3 bolt flange so you can undo the pinion nut though.

I run Dakars as well, bloody good MT tyre in my opion but have soooooo much grip that rather than spin out, unloadingthe drive train, they just seem to dig in harder until something breaks. The only advantage is when its broke properly, you know which bit needs fixing :rolleyes::D
