After searching it seems my disco shouldnt have a spider, 93 v8 with single button fob. But the past few days it has an intermittant fault that shows signs of a failing spider. Disco wont start and cant hear the fuel pump going, leave it a while then it starts straight up! Then at offroading...

not if you get a good one, and rustproof it a lot on the man vs auto i chose auto, smoother and more controlled offroad, no worries about stalling on hillclimbes auto box is also a bit less likely to snap shafts etc as its a bit smoother on the power IMO

the swivel housing should be replaced as its started to corrode, which is odd for a part mostly in contact with oil? Maybe it was stood for a period of time. Its not a hard job to replace the housing and the seal but does require the preload to be re set. Im sure there is a 'how to' in Busters...
