put the engine in the boot. Get the missus to come along in her car. You can fit an NA in the boot of a 90, and a LR gearbox in the boot of a micra!!

older ones didn' have a handbrake light. Mine doesn't. If the fluid is low, the light will come on, or flicker if its only just low. How to tell if the handbrake is on? Either look at the lever, or try to pull away... :D On mine the light is tested when you turn the key to start, it brings...

i find with the windows open you can see through them excellently! :) If you've got them shut then you aint 'ard and so dnt deserve a land rover! (it helps if you put the heater on though makes it stay a nice temp then :D)

check for smoke on start up from cold, could suggest a dying turbo like mine did if theres a lot of it. Then get it warm (assuming its still in the car) and take it for a spin up to speed, listen for rattles - the brake vacuum pumps on them fail, with a rattle often. Umm... Oh yeah check...

yeah i live in bangor, its a small town. I dont have power steering either. All i did was buy a shorter belt from halfords that dnt go round the PAS pulley. Job done. You could reduce the pipe size, but i personally wouldn't like to run a turbo with a restriced gas flow, itll throttle it...

ere pos if your comin up to see hughsey ill help you fit the engine. jus to add to your thoughts. Your current NA egg sauce wont be big enough dia for the TDi, you will need to make or get a new one. Go for a 300, cos the downpipe comes outta the turbo straight down, so zorsts are **** easy...

as far as i know the gearing in them is the same. What transfer box is on it?
