yeah just had a browse on google my guess was spot on! filter and odd looking manifolds give it away.

Aye it looks like a BMC. My mate had one in a boat once it broke down all the time.

That thing just cries out power and performance doesn't it I'd be interested to see how it goes, ask him to run it for a little while and maybe have a test drive to see what you think. I expect it wont match up with a 12J let alone a TDi Boydy!

that looks like the ones me cousin works on.... fitted to broads cruisers in noooor****, all of 55hp when new! yep thats about the same as a 2.25 diesel but louder and vibrates more

Yep BMC 2.5 - Dont scrap it if shes a runner - Ebay it or ask around a marina ( Very popular in narrow boats ) marinised BMCs can sell for a grand ( a few other bolt on bits )
