im with saint v8 on this, how does a shaft work one way but not the other. and sounds very expensive for a shaft. a recon box is about 1200 quid. and to me it looks like thats what you will be replacing. 150 an hour labour, really????? must be a main dealer at that price???

make sure you do the spark plugs up nice and tight, they have a habit of undoing themselves, you do get a clue, as it sounds like the cam followers are knocking. and the spark plugs are about 70 quid for a good set.

brand new alternator from bosch , all fitted and done. and all for £440. main dealer wanted £700 plus vat just for the alternator, you have to love them for trying it on.

get those spark plugs changed as a priority. engine oil and filter, and air filter. fuel filter might be worth changing. you should see a difference then

right under the base of the seat not on the floor, so an inch from your bum cheeks so to speak is a whute ecu box for the seats and mirrors. in that box is a small battery, which over time leaks and causes problems. it is easier to take seat out to get to the ecu.

the ECU under the drivers seat is playing up. might be as simple as the battery needs changing and a quick clean up where the battery may have leaked

does sound like you need a service. i get between 18 and 24 from my one. and thats not on lpg just good old petrol. and i carry a fair amount in the boot at all times. so would think 20 is a reasonable expectation.

cant see what can be knocking then... need to get right under it with big bar. and a hammer.. cant be anything much, we have done the main bits
