iirc. did you change your front driveshaft oil seals? how are they holding up? only because of another thread on here about incorrect size of oil seals. changed mine recently, and they`re leaking:(

re lapping in valves. it seems theres quite a few different ideas floating around. when i did a motorbike head, which is an awful lot easier to handle than a td5 head. after each lap with fine paste. i held the valve in place and poured some parafin down the port until it did`nt leak out any more.

fyi. next month they are updating to version7 for the discovery. so they told me last week.

i gave bearmach a call yesterday to get the `v6` upgrade for my hawkeye. they said, "if you wait for a month, `v7` will be out" so there you go, hawkeye users.

a common fault is the starter solenoid contacts wearing out. becomes intermitent or fails completely. cheap fix, about a tenner. loads on fleebay.

apart from your local motor factors. get yourself on the herocarparts website/email site. they`re always doing deals on oil. i generally pay £12.50 for 5l of engine oil. £20 for 5l gear oil. these are either semi or fully synth depending on deal at the time. as jm says. more important to change...

if it were mine, i`d live with it. i`ve had this problem before on previous engines and fretted about it. but experience has shown me its more a nuisance thing. this is as a delivery driver putting on average 200k miles on the engines.

same happened to mine a couple of years ago. i did weld the bracket eventually. but still have not put it back on. also have left the acoustic cover off. makes it easier when lifting the bonnet and having a quick look for any oil/water leaks. something i seem to do quite often, eases my paranoia:)

hi, could someone tell me the thread size of the banjo bolts that go into the ace rams. from searching on here. it could be m10, but its not a definite. i plan to substitute the banjo bolts for grease nipples. thanks

and after you`ve searched. you can buy a plate to convert it to 2wd for about a tenner. might get you out of trouble

theres an articles on this site. where someone drilled and tapped the valve block and fitted flexible hoses. an alternative that could be cheaper and easier to fit if you want to keep the system?
