    Paranoid

Just think of it as a hobby you drive, most land rover products require a deal of patience and their own income stream........... Just think, they are a lot less complicated than the newer models, I love mine ( today! )

    P38 auto box problems.

I had exactly the same problem, changed oil and filter. My box was 1.5 litres short of fluid, filled it up ( with the engine running ) and so far......... Going to do hoses and cooler in the near future, oil has to be going somewhere !

Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water. The gearbox stopped working.

Point taken, and oil was not as bad as it could have been, but they could have checked the level. I guess now I need to keep and eye on the level, hoses and the oil cooler - normal paranoia levels restored.

Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water. The gearbox stopped working.

Looks very much like it or they would have at least picked up the level issues. It's not a particularly difficult job and I checked the invoice, I wasn't charged for a new filter or oil, shouldn't they have at least checked the oil. Heh ho , if you want it done properly do it yourself. I will...

Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water. The gearbox stopped working.

Right. Got hold of a filter, gasket and o rings from the nice men at Dingocroft. Genuine bits, prices are a bit scary, but not compared to the quote from the local main stealer ( not that they had them in stock !) Drained the treacle, took it apart, nothing to scary in the sump. Filled as per...

Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water. The gearbox stopped working.

Don't think so. I am going to check the oil level and replace the filter tomorrow if I can get hold of one. How much oil am I looking at for a filter replacement ?

Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water. The gearbox stopped working.

Did a few errands yesterday, all working well. Then sensed that the truck wasn't pulling away quite right, but he-ho possible glitch. Stopped again, engaged reverse, nothing. Engine revved , I went no where. Managed to push it backwards while it was in reverse then into drive and home. I will...

    Sunroof shade slide clips

Not sure about the clips, try one of the breakers. Head rest however I do know, because I did the same ( rushing it ). The fitting in the seat does a quarter turn and then the whole lot comes out allowing you to get the head rest out, put then back in and bobs your uncle.

    P38 1995 2.5 DSE diagnostic tool+ Key fob

Don't know about the book symbol. Do a search for hvac faults on the forum. Check the rf has the antenna connected, may have been disconnected to deal with battery drain, again check the forum, it's a very common fault.

another p38 batt drain, air suspension supected help needed

As i remember if you take out the relay from under the passenger seat all it will do is stop the car self levelling, did you change the rf box for the new version ? i have been through this and it was the rf unit replacement that solved the problem.

    Rattle from radiator area !

Just got back in, when i pulled in i noticed that on idle the fan appeared to be rattling, opened the bonnet nothing apparent. Turned off, pushed the fan round which did not foul anything, what other bearings or couplings could be the cause ? Water pump ? Viscous unit ? Idler (if there is one)...
