Just bought neigbours series 3 and was wondering the story of its age. says on v5 it was built in 1980, but says first registered 1982. dunno masel. so is it an x or a v in reality. and why would this have been? did it sit in the garage for 2 years, or was it cos its first owner was...

Well I bit the bullet and got a runabout series 3 lwb 2.25 petrol - amazingly original condition, perfect interior, perfect bodywork, really sound chassis, and low mileage (genuine 80k) and all the paperwork you could want.... but... gearbox issues - only engages drive in 1st, 2nd and reverse...

what bookers is that?? It's 78p at mine...

On my 90 2.5td, standard side tank, plastic Td5 tank at rear, twin fillers, twin senders and dials, twin full size 200tdi fuel filters (in case of a dodgy batch of diesel on expedition) and an electric switchover valve - plus I threw in a veggy kit while I was at it - seemed daft not to! To...

That valve looks fine but you're probably better with the 6-port jobby higher up as it not only selects the tank for drawing fuel from but also sends unused fuel back to the selected tank - otherwise (improbably but possibly) if you had two tanks, both brimmed with fuel (like for an expedition)...

Where are you Naladaly - I know of two complete dashes near to me that my pal has. I'm in East Lothian, Scotland. Oh and he has various rubbers and windowy bits.

I' using the standard 2.5td exhaust but getting a new back bit made or will cobble a td5 rear onto my 2.5td front. Not sure yet... I'm not using a pollack as my german veg-oil kit came with a good switch valve and I don't need a return to the aux tank so don't need the pollacks "complexity"...

Just got to wondering that there's a fair amount of Scots / People Inabiting Scotland on here now - and well, does anyone fancy meeting up? A kind of Landyzone answer to the Brighton run. You know, meet up, drive somewhere scenic (like the top of a big hill with a good view) get some sausages...

for such an expedition I wouldn't bother with the camper conversion and use tents / roof tent / camping hammocks or some such instead. A landy isn't an ideal camper but is a great base for camping on top of / next to. I'd go for a coil sprung early 110 over a series anything for "comfort"...
