As Mr Rimmer says it should only come on when less than 5 degrees, otherwise it would be on all the time and wasting fuel.... which is my problem as sensor has shorted out. :(

Coming back to the Freelander Club

That was my reasoning too. I had been considering upgrading to a Disco II no older than my 04 Hippo. Looking about online and then visiting various sellers I couldn't see one cheaper than £8000 in as good condition and high spec as mine. Then dealers were offering me a paltry £3000 for mine...

    Freelander 2.0 Di 3 door

Why bother buying a 2 wheel drive freelander? The whole point of having a 4 wheel drive is to be able to use that option when necessary, otherwise you may as well buy a mondeo! If it is 2WD then suspect IRD problems caused by knackered VCU..... walk away unless you want to spend a grand...

    Td4 VCU query??

Mine recently passed 130K with original VCU and I didn't really feel too worried about it on my daily drive. However I had decided to fix a few issues rather than change the motor and the VCU was changed as well due to the high mileage. I also changed all 4 tyres at the same time and have to...

Coming back to the Freelander Club

I've spent about £3000 overall over the last couple of years sorting out bits that went wrong... replaced engine after oil starvation, replaced Jatco box after dying engine overstrained it, recon VCU, replaced total sunroof, and lastly 5 new Pirelli Scorpions to include spare tyre. She flies...

    Freelander sunroof trouble

This is probably due to the plastic cog being damaged through a lot of use and is quite common. As you operate the switch, help the sunroof along by pushing it in the direction that you are trying to move it..... preferably closed ;)
