Which first, HG or Clutch or engine out and both at the same time?

Am not sure you can say that nowadays. They are a "semi nomadic agriculturally reliant ethnic group". So you cant have a go at them. Listen, i wouldn't want to see you lose out...Gi ya £50 for it mate?...Chuck in all the bits and i'll organize a trailer. Always glad to help  :D

Cant tell you this side, but you would probably notice if you had it before to compare. What i can't understand about the 10% power loss is that if your opening up the whole inlet tract surely that would give you peak torque, as a longer inlet tract is supposed to give you higher torque?. You...

    Help with getting landy ready

No probs Pete, glad if helped in any way. I am just a little worried why the car is running in 2WD in the first place. I hope you don't find hidden issues with the VCU etc when the 4WD system is reinstated. Fingers crossed, and hope it all goes ok. :)

    starting problem

Yea, would love to get my mitts on it!, but probably couldn't fix it either. He has done everything i could think off except your immobiliser and switch idea. Worth a try on the immobiliser side, and the switch. Anything is worth a bash really. Still really think its an auto electrics guy...

They mean the diff in the PG1 box. Thats why i asked about the slight metallic noise when turning left. That usually means defcon level 2 in stuffedness.

freelanders going back to the dealer

I learn more every day on here. Even P38's and other stuff dont have a "CWPC" (Clock work pig comforter) option. Would love to see the relevant instrument light when you press the switch and wind the handle.

    jatco slipping

Yea, its a bit of a dilemma, it's a hell of a job even its a PG box, then you have the seals to change. I guess its like most things as they get older...me included. They just go south eventually. Hope you suss it either way.

Which first, HG or Clutch or engine out and both at the same time?

Without doubt, the outer Mongolian ones are supposed to be the worst. Apparently the Yak gut they use for the elastomer seals just isnt as good. Its something they don't feed them. Makes the difference between 2000 mile failure or a 50.000 miles service life. Just goes to show, you have to...

    Opinions please.

Thinking about it engine wise, and if we are talking about the TD4 model (M47R), there was little difference in the years. I seem to remember the later units from about 2002 had more stuff on them to control temperature, and were actually heavier with no significant power gain and slightly...

    Opinions please.

Yea, thats more or less it. Its age related. The facelift is a better looking car as well. So it all adds a little to the price. I think its safe to say that if you can swing to a later model then go for it. But i wouldnt say its an absolute must have, especially in a turbo diesel form. The...
