What have you done to your Freelander today

Hi, you may have heard this 100 times but before I made a metal bolt on sump guard I used to undo the 2 bolts for the plastic undertray to the sub chassis, then I had about 2 foot of 4 inch plastic rectangular profile gutter, undid the sump nut after positioning gutter from under sump drain...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Today I replaced rear brake shoes, cleaned drums and Hammerited them. Not sure self adjusters set right as hand brake not adjusting itself on any great hurry so may have to have another look? Anyone know if adjusters need pre-setting at all? Also torqued up diff bushes replaced last weekend...

    Freelander 1 Diff bushes

Hi, I am not sure if I am hallucinating or not so am going to throw this out there....I replaced the diff bushes last weekend because the front one had been eaten by the car in its constant battle to keep me busy fixing it. The rear two were pretty bad too. Used poly for replacements. I was...

    Freelander TD4 2005

] I wonder if I could just throw in some black paint to tone down the white to grey or something. I have a small bit of black Hammerite and some other black paint spray gun paint. Just seems a pity to waste the white; I will never use it otherwise. Your FL is very tidy you should be proud of...

    Freelander TD4 2005

Also, went to Landy rummage at Beaulieu today. Got an old ammunition box, frog for a bayonet I have, 2 metal signs, series 2 inner wing mud guards and Freelander 2 flexible roller type load space cover. Which is a shame as I have a Freelander 1 haha. Quite strange really the stuff at an autojumble.

    Freelander TD4 2005

Hey great job. What is the paint manufacturer and what's it called exactly so I can have a look at getting some. I have a big pot of white Hammerite which I was given which I was contemplating using. I thought an added advantage would be if I overturned somewhere remote I could be seen by a...

    Freelander TD4 2005

His name was Frosty before November 5 but a change felt appropriate. More of a dog person myself. And yes, you gtta love blowing stuff up. That's all there is to it. Not cats obviously before anyone goes mental.

    Freelander TD4 2005

I thought about that but the wife has taken away all fire within 40 metres of the house privileges since November 5 and the unfortunate incident with Toastie the cat. But I love that jigsaw; cut a couple of lines Inside the bush then chisel and ball pein hammer out in 5 mins easy! Stupid cat.

    Freelander TD4 2005

Yes, poly bushes in and not really too much grief getting old ones out. Hardest was the front of course which was the totally toasted one as the pictures show. I couldn't remember how to get old out of mounts at first but remembered the joys of my jigsaw and after getting the first one done I...

    Freelander TD4 2005

Thanks Nodge; that's what I thought so I will swap them round today. I replaced the VCU and bearings last November which was all good, apart from none of my really helpful friends or family turning up to help hold it up when replacing it. Don't know whereabouts you are but I'm going to Beaulieu...

    Freelander TD4 2005

If that's what you would do it shall be so and I will evidence with pictures. The question will be around FL matters; WWND? So; swap the pairs as pairs is my understanding?

    Freelander TD4 2005

I did Hammerite the fuel tank cradle because I didn't want to replace it and I am going to carry on tomorrow when I have done the diff mounts. I love Hammerite me

    Freelander TD4 2005

Thanks I do like this car, about the first car I have ever enjoyed owning. Nodge; are you saying swap front to rear and rear to front to even put wear and protect drivetrain etc? I have not swapped them yet but was thinking about the tyres the other day. They were a complete matching new set...

    Freelander TD4 2005

Yes I thought that looked tricky the grommet shove. Is that as in the little pictures on the passenger side under the engine fuse box? Also, bought a soft top from a lovely couple who have sold their TD4 FL and have an enormous Disco 3litre small house on wheels! Really good top, and putting it...

And the funny thing is I actually mentioned these brackets this evening to a man who used to have a FL 1 !! How strange!
