Hi there

Has anyone replaced a capacitor or know someone that can replace one within the becm, have a capacitor that is totaly burnt out and the garage beleives this will be replaceable rather than put in a whole new becm. Therefore hopefully solveing my indicator and interior light problem.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks people.

do yu know what value it is?

shud be easy if yu is handy with a soldering iron, but yu need to get a comparitive device. If yu cant read it - or know what it is - yu need someone to look at a good one and copy the info written on it.

i have a becm for sale 60gbp ?? there are 2 boards inside, maybe just swap a board??
irishrover is your man??

I'm pleased to see the inside of a Becm, no surface mounts, just good old fashioned components that can be replaced without a bloody microscope. [www.cpc.co.uk] also have a good range of electrojiggery at good prices and they take credit cards.

Right...had a look and the capacitor C201 is 1000uf, 40VDC, 85deg.C, Axial, 30mm long X approx. 12.5mm dia.
RS Components ref is 108-4986 and the price over here is around €7 + VAT for a bag of five.

It was probably Blue in colour before it got cooked!!!:behindsofa:

Maplins

axial leaded capacitor. Load life of 2000h at 850oC. Operating temperatures of 40 to +850oC. Leakage current not more than 0.03CV or 4µA (whichever is greater).

If yu dont fancy doing it yoself, get it down to Basingstoke and I will do it for ya.

I have a few here and can post one to you next week. Just donate a couple of quid to the Forum in lieu of the postage.
PM your address if you want to go ahead, otherwise, you should get them easy enough over the UK

Cheers guys, thanks for all the help so far.

Ordered the Capacitor already but thank you very much for the offer Irishrover and as for the donation to Landyzone, was going to donate to the site anyway seeing as i've probably saved a small fortune from the advice i've received so far re my BECM and EAS faults. Got to keep these sites running!!

Anyway back to this again, when i get and replace the capacitor will it be as simple as, old out, new in, everything works, TADAAA, like magic! Or will it be, old out, new in and then have to be linked to a diagnostic thingy to reset it, then everything works?

Do people beleive this will get my indicators and interior lights working again etc?

Aaron

I've done nothing and my interior lights have started working as they should again for the first time in weeks..... Maybe if i do nothing for a bit longer it will all start working again without me doing the capacitor lol!!!

Gotta luv it!!
