Good evening all

Went back to the RR in a car park this morning to find the key/fob would not unlock car.
Opened door manually and attempted to start. Engine disabled/low fob battery voltage. A little confusing as I replaced the batteries a few weeks ago.
Went into town to do a few things and bought two new fob batteries, installed batteries but still had the same issues, low voltage etc. Used my EKA for the first time and started fine.

Arrived back home 24.2 mpg, tried my other key which would not unlock and disabled engine again, used EKa and then found using the key in door worked fine ( both of them) so I decided to carry on with door unlock until I finally got around to buying a nano.
Thinking a little later about the low fob voltage it occurred to me that the new e...y fob I purchased may be causing the problem. The fob although it looks the part is not a direct replacement for the original, I used my old key blade instead of having another cut, it does not fit so well and now does not spring back to the fob slot as the spring loading mechanism is not compatible to the old unit .... works to a degree.

The real problem was the contact clip that goes down the side of the batteries, It was touching both batteries on the side changing a series 6v set up to a parallel 3v output, bit of insulation tape fixed the fault and the low voltage display disappeared.

Did a Sync on both keys in the door 15 secs unlock with button pressed 15 secs lock with button pressed. All OK again now.

Still looking for a nano at the right price, think a new one may be my early xmas present (for the next 10 years)

Quite happy it happened, good to know what may work!!
