Hey all,

Got a flat batt, replaced, now it’s asking for a code and doesn’t crank, but I have an aftermarket radio, and no code in docs.

Tried disconnecting batt for 10 mins, no dice.

What can I do? Have RSW and other tools available, but not sure how to reset BCU

Thanks for any hints.

Model and year of car would help.

It's L322 2002 4.4 M62B44. Looks like "EKA code", but local dealership has no records of an alarm ever installed into the car, so they have no codes...

I have no idea, but a bit of a search brought this up.

Yeah, I found that thread too, problem is I have no original sat nav installed. I have one I can connect, but with no code - removing half the dash seems a “meh” type activity. Local dealership says there’s no record of an alarm or a code, so they can’t help.

Alright, I got it to run, so will leave this for future generations wasting a week just like me.

Step 1. Key to pos 1.
Step 2. Negative battery off for 5 mins.
Step 3. Negative back on.
Step 4. You will see it turning on the dash without asking for the code - do NOT turn the key to pos 0. In my case no alarm sounds or anything alike.
Step 5. Turn key to pos 2. The countdown apparently starts, but I can't see it, cause it's not on a dash but on old satnav which I don't have.
Step 6. Hold the key in pos 2 for 10 minutes. My hand turned numb, had to switch hands and all that, so if you can think of a gadget to hold the key in pos 2 without you suffering - figure something out beforehand.
Step 7. Since I don't see the countdown I held it like that for 11 minutes.
Step 8. Profit. The car starts. Turn off/on didn't recall the code back, so I decided to not to remount the old satnav and disable it.

Lesson learned: do not attempt to start the car more than 3 times with flat battery, or if this code is enabled - you'll suffer just like me.

Thanks all for the tips and help!

Here’s another question. All these resets dropped my dashboard language back to German. While I speak the language - is there a way to set it back to English without satnav? :)

SDD might do it, but never tried because I don't have an L322. You could get an LR Nav screen & temporarily revert to that to configure the car.

Then put the aftermarket radio back in, although I wonder if that's what's causing the issues ??
