Hi, driving my wifes 2012 freelander 2 this AM and noticed a gush of air (sound) when accelerating off a roundabout. Kept driving and didn't notice any smoke and power wasn't down - although I didn't push it, drove carefully home just in case it was something critical. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or is aware of what that 3 seconds of escaping air sound could be. I thought I'd blown a tyre.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tim

Sounds like an inter cooler pipe. They are a bit notorious for failing. If it’s the intercooler let me know,I have a spare that needs to go.

Thanks for the reply...how can I check that? If it is what's the damage for your replacement...dm if thats better.
Open the bonnet and get an assistant to gently rev the engine whilst you listen for the air escaping. Still most likely is the burst rubber hose or even a loose hose clip. Difficult hose to access if you don’t have all the appropriate equipment. If it’s just replacing a hose it would be worth dropping it in to a local garage, shouldn’t cost much.

Most likely a boost pipe has split. They are on borrowed time after about 6 years old. I replaced all of mine to ensure against failure.
