They're even worse than the smoke trying to escape from the wiring looms in older Rangies

Harry Metcalfe does a good guide to the TDV8, and recommends that setup over the other options available. It was his main vehicle for a good few years, which is a pretty good endorsement given some of what he's owned!

That is the reason I have a P38, cheap to buy and cheap to fix most of the time.

I looked at a sport tdv8 today full history but lots rust on chassis. Might throw the gl420 in the mix for good measure

hope u don’t mind me adding but also check out what the insurance groups is, along with road tax , plus cost for a set of tyres , wishbones k brake discs, pads etc

Even going up in the models can add a few groups on the insurance , some of the FFRR are group 49-50:, funny enough been talking to my insurance company regarding FFRR and RRS , some insurance companies req a tracker to be fitted

See the FFRR has a lovely interior , alas don’t know if thats a rough price these days for one, also see it’s an 8 x speed gearbox

however is right at the top , insurance group 50

Personally I wouldn't touch a sport unless someone was paying me (which is the only time I do touch them!). They're not a real Range Rover, but they also don't seem to be as well taken care of as full size in general. The last one I was under was a 2012 and was considerably more rusty and less tidy than my second Classic, which spent the last decade on a farm.

I only drove one brand new years ago when they came out. Is a happy memory
you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a RangeRover is not like a modern badge swapping FL identifying as a Velar.
If I could get that interior in my 38 I would!

They do seem to have suffered more from spinny wheels than other LRs and were built more to not-last than the older generations

No, it's not a 2WD ****box build for running over protestors or whatever mums do on the school run.
But, the ride isn't as wafty as a Full Fat and a lot of them have been messed about with by folk who have no business owning a Rangie. If you want to drive around on the bump stops, buy an Audi!
Sometimes I think old Enzo was onto something with the Approved Owners List!
