Disco 2 2" lift and drop links

I'm in the process of changing the chassis on my D2. The air bags look a bit perished,rear shocks are warn and the height sensors are very rotten and manky.
I'm going to go over to coils. The front looks to be tired too so I need 4 springs and shocks.
I'm thinking I may as well lift it 2 inch if I have to change that lot. I have seen longer roll bar drop links for 2-3" lift. Are they necessary and what do they improve?

As far as I can gather.. not alot. It will just put the bar back to where it should be.

In extreme articulation with the shocks that allow it could prevent the roll bar fowling the body.
