Got myself a freelander1 td4 today. My friend picked it up for me.

On idle it kind of slightly stutters/missfires/sounds a little rough. Rev needle slightly moves down and up. And theres abit of white smoke but clears. He said once its warm it stops and idles fine.

Ive had time for drive round the estate but thats it. It seems to drive as it should. Couldnt say if its lacking power as never drove one and my daily is 320bhp so obviously going to feel strange to me.

Any experience im all ears

Welcome to LZ, hope you get the idling sorted and the car is a good one.

I can't really offer any sound advice on the idling issue, but I'd be testing the injectors if it was mine.

Idling issues are normally down to injectors, where small inaccuracies in fuel delivery, make the largest difference to the way the engine runs.

Thanks for the welcome and the response.

Don't know if this helps but I used it last night and can confirm that once it's warm it idles fine.

I don't suppose you have an idea on how much I'm looking at for injectors

I have had this problem with the last FL1 and now with the current one bought 2 weeks ago, if the weather is hot, starting is fine but otherwise I get a lumpy idle with some white smoke which sorts itself out in 10seconds or so , The reason is probably a lazy peizo element in an injector which refuses to work properly at lower temperatures, we used to get this with radio oscillator crystals at work, if you warmed them up with a soldering iron they worked and of course these work on the piezo electric principle same as a common rail injector. The only cure is to find the lazy one on a cold day and replace it
