Does anyone know where to get the rivets which hold the rubber seal onto the gearbox tunnel? I’ve removed mine by drilling out the pop rivets but can’t find the right size to replace with. I’d rather use self-tapping screws or bolts but can’t find them either! The bits that go in the holes here...

Having done this job I'm a bit annoyed I cannot remember the size, but then it was about 10 years ago! The simplest way to do it is to keep trying drill bits in the hole until you find the right fit, then go for pop rivets of the same size. They don't have to be exactly right although quite a bit out won't work either. If you search using "pop rivet sizing" you'll find plenty of answers. It really isn't hard.

On the D2 5mm holes and 4.8mm rivets.
and as far as length is concerned " According to The Sheet Metal Handbook, the length of a rivet is measured from the underside of the head to the tip of the stem. The head itself is not included in this measurement. The length of the rivet should be equal to the thickness of both objects you are fastening, plus 1.5 times the diameter of the rivet's stem.(NOT the diameter of the rivet itself!)" Also see https://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/A-Guide-...bouttownbolts-co-uk-/10000000019327603/g.html with diagrams explaining what the head is what the stem is etc, which I wish I had done! The rivets I used were far too long and they were a real killer to put in! Of course you can always pull the stem out of a rivet that is the right diameter but too long, and then reduce the length of the rivet with a hack saw before reassembly and use. Again, wish I had thought of that too!
