Hi all. Just hoping there might be a few nice folks who can supply with some pictures of how their steering wheel fit and activate the self cancel.

When I bought mine it came with what I presume to be an early defender hunk of grey plastic/rubber wheel. Which is fine unless I want to use the stalk. Just doesn't feel right to use and I can't flash the high beams as the wheel literally blocks it.

So I want to buy/refurb/fit a more original wheel. Iv seen pictures with the 3 holes at the base of the wheel and then also the separate striker for the self cancel but for the life of me can't put together in my head how they actually go together.

Which is why I'm. Hoping there's a few nice people willing to upload some pictures for me.

Love you all in advance :)

they can be a bit finicky , I took mine off the other week to sort the heater duct behind dash , put the wheel back on and lost the self cancel , ill see if a can have a looksee tomooorw

In the mean time iv gotta figure out how to remove this defender wheel. There's no holes for a puller behind the emblem. Just the main nut. Tried pulling and wiggling with feet pushing against the car but no luck

Just sorted mine the nib was 180 deg out, so it should be just be in the centre of the indicator arm as pic, works ok like this, if you need new arm make sure genuine/Lucas otherwise wont last

How does it fit to the wheel? The original wheels iv looked at don't appear to have anywhere for the striker to spot into? Or am I being daft?

The nibby thing slides over the column and has two lugs sticking out that locate in two holes underside of steering wheel , I fitted mine half a turn out without thinking first doh

Think mine is fitted 180 degrees different to Steve has worked but arms get bent out further over time and no longer make contact.
