Irwin Bolt Remover

Just wanted to share experience with the above tool. After plus-gassing, heating, hammering, grunting, straining and a lot of swearing, I put a 16mm Irwin remover onto the exhaust bolt of the TD5 turbo I'm removing. Using a long extender offered up from below, and a very seriously large amount of grunt, the Irwin cracked it free on the first attempt.
In this case, the nut wasn't too badly damaged, but the remover does cut into the mild steel of the nut, so if it's seized super-tight then it will likely be destroyed.
Note that this nut was seized so tight, the stud came out with the nut still solid.

Had occasion to use one under my 90, bolt head so corroded couldnt even get mole grips to stay on, 1st go with one of these and out it came. Suprised it worked so well, just bought the extender set to go up to 19mm.

Need to myself some of these!!

Ive had these a few years and they have got me out of many a sticky wicket.

I bought some of these a few months ago to get the bolts out of my rear calliper - brilliant bit of kit. I don't know why I haven't owned some before.

I went to Screwfix a few months back to get a set of these, unfortunately they’d stopped selling the Irwin ones, they did have an Erbauer (SF own brand) set which I bought instead and I have to say they’ve been very good so far, so I can recommend them too!

+1 for the Irwin. 2 hours trying to shift the generator on a rusty Pug, 5 minutes with the proper tool. Their drills are pretty good, too.
