Hi there guys,
New to this forum so I just wanted to know if anyone can help with an issue I am having. I own an old series 2A short wheel base that has an issue after being at rest without moving for a day or two. The wheels stick and completely lock??? I don't know what is causing this, the handbrake is off, no foot pedal issues just a complete stick. To get it to move I have to stick it into low ratio and force it to budge. But this cant be good for it... Recently we tried towing it out of the parking space with another Rangerover and not even a 3.5-4 litre range rover could move it. Any ideas on what I could do to diagnose the problem or even fix it?
I have tried pumping the brakes to see if they were the cause, and did the same with the handbrake... Still nothing. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the hand brake is stuck on. Have you lifted the central cover and the cover underneath the drivers seat to inspect the linkage. It could also be stuck in the on position inside the drum. If it only budges in low ratio it suggests that. Have you tried low ratio in four wheel drive? If it moves slightly but the rears are not moving it's got to be the handbrake.

If you're satisfied it's not the hand brake, it's something along the transmission. Does it drive ok once freed up?

I don't think it I. The handbrake, will check the central cover to be sure though. It does roll freely once it has got going for a few metres. Then I can stick it back into high ratio an continue driving. We have left it parked without the handbrake on over night and it still seizes.
However, when I first depress the foot brake after getting it going it does make a subtle 'clunk' once that has happened it runs smoothly with no more issues.

Thank you so far though!

Try releasing the adjusters on the back of the hub. Jack one wheel up at a time and turn the nut until the wheel is turning free then slowly tighten back up one click at a time until slight resistance turning the wheel. Back off one click and move on to the next wheel.

Once you've tried the drum adjustment if it's still not free suggest you take drums off to inspect. Maybe it's a seized or busted retainer springs and the shoes are jamming.
