Hi

Bit of an odd issue with my 07 plated 110 TDci and I'm looking for some help please. I fitted a mud roof console earlier today and that involved taking and and re- fitting the roof light (everything starts simple). Fitted everything back, very happy however bit of an issue now:
- the roof light isn't working
- the radio isn't working
- the lights on warning isn't working
- the fuel gauge drops to zero when you put the power on and then returns to its previous level.
There are no other obvious issues or problems but I'm a bit stuck as where to go and what to some?? The car starts fine, all other electrical systems are working, I'm a bit stuck .

My plan is to pull and check all the fuses under the steering wheel, you never know there may be something here. After that I'm getting lost, think that it will be worth looking under the drivers and passenger seat but I thought that these fuses were the bigger ones??? Also I will take everything apart to see that I haven't trapped or pushed the "fir trees" into any wires.

The problem seems to be simple, possibly something to do with a direct from battery feed (internal light/radio not working), are there any fuses hidden away anywhere to check??

Any help greatly welcomed, approach your time for reading this

Cheers

Steve

Just disconnect the wiring top the light (make sure it isn't touching anything and then check radio etc again. Not sure about such a 'modern' vehicle but on our 'classic' defenders the roof lights are also controlled via the alarm ecu (that's what turns the light on when you disarm the alarm) If you have managed to cross a wire at the light you could be backfeeding 12v (or grounding) one of the ecu terminals which may cause an issue. Failing that it does sound like a classic earthing issue but only you know what you have disturbed.

Suppose it could also be a fuse, may be worth looking at a simple snag (the radio), if you fix whatever is causing that you will probably fix all the issues

Thanks for getting back. I'm planning on doing what you've suggested tomorrow, fingers crossed it'll be a simple one to track down.

What I may do is pop the radio out and check that the fuse on the back has blown, that may solve one problem.

Any ideas on where to go next if the roof light isn't working??

Cheers

Steve

If everything happened at the same time then there is probably a single cause so only one fix needed, just work the radio fault first and see where you end up.
