Well, fortunately, my brake line has burst while still parked on my driveway. Could have been a bit dodgy on the motorway! Anyway, any advice or helpful tips before I order up new pipe, flare kit, etc. ?

I'm a bit concerned how I get at the pipes on top of the chassis with my large hands. Do I need to jack the body up off the chassis or is it manageable as is? I'll be doing the work on my drive with Jack and axle stands.

Cheers

Have a look at lzir rescue map, may be someone local for a few beer tokens

Its not a difficult job. No you don't need to raise body. I done mine and access is ok. Some of the small pipe clamp bolts will be rusted though so prepare for that.

I cant remember the lengths for each side but when my NSR brake pipe corroded on top of the chasis I replaced both rear pipes from the connection under the NSR wheel arch back to the caliper with stainless steel braided hose, totally flexible, dont have to worry about joints, flaring etc.
I cut the original pipes off as where they meet the chasis and then cable tied the new flexible hose to old pipes and utilised the existing brackets.
Cost me about £40 and took about an hour including bleeding.
Happy days.

its not to bad to do if you have some help to thread it through.

get a decent flare kit, a roll of brake pipe, and a pack each of male and female unions in metric. Change the whole lot, new flexi hoses too, then its done. You can leave original steel pipes if they are really good.

Don't use copper unless you know what you are doing as it is very soft and easy to crush.
Use kunifer pipe as it is easy to bend but not too soft to crush.

Easter: worse than Christmas! Bugger all available for delivery until after the holiday. Can't find anywhere near me that has cupro nickel pipe, and no flare kits. So will have to wait.
Thanks for all the comments. Helpful.

Well, quite straight forward really. Managed to unclip old line, remove it, make up the replacement, and fit it back in the original clips. Bled it and test drive. No leaks, and firm brakes, stops in straight line.
I'll have to do the other rear line asap as the corrosion on the burst one was bad. The end section broke off removing it and I didn't put any force on it at all: just rusted right through.
