No matter what your doing, whether your in the shower or in the bath, it just takes a minute to check your crossmember or you'll end up with one like mine.

I've NEVER seen that before! Chassis, yes. Rear crossmember, yes! But gearbox crossmember?? Dread to think what your chassis is like :eek:

seen it several times... gearbox cross member has two flat plates that are perfect traps for water, seen so many good chassis completely rotten in the area when the cross member is removed.... really crap design.... and so simple to solve... rust treat, paint, waxoyl n finally copper grease n it'll never re-occur..

There is some pics of mine in exact same position. took gearbox out to do clutch. & Me & BB spent rest of weekend welding the fooker back up. Hole was bigger than the crossmember plates by the time We'd got back to good metal. :eek:
