Luggage compartment 12v socket

Hi,

Ordered a new 12v socket to fit in the boot, wandering where the best place to fit it is,

Where have you fitted yours and does any one have pictures?

Seems a awful lot of work to fit-I mean there is 15 pages of instructions!

Don't have a kit , didn't realise there was one! I was just going to but the separate parts off fleabay!

That kit doe look good I do like the recess it fits into but I'm a cheap skate and £47 + vat seems expensive!

Different point of view, but looks okay to me! Oem look etc

I do like the factory look of the official kit. My previous FL1 had it fitted. I'd like to have one on my current V6 but I consider £50 a complete rip off!! I think 2 sockets in the boot would be ideal. 1 ignition switched and 1 permanent live!!

Wouldn't trust my self with permamant live! I would permanently have a flat battery!

install a caravan charge relay so its only live with engine running
ive got my audi set up like that so my drinks are always cold

I think it was the second thing I installed. The hardest part was cutting the panel for the socket mounting. Otherwise it was quite straightforward.

I want to do mine with an BMW OEM part for boot 12V socket,
I think it looks very good but haven't found any at the breakers.

I've seen those on ebay for about £10

I fitted 2 of those into 2 different e39 tourings. They were easy as the battery was in the boot. The FL is a lot more complicated.

Where would you draw the power from?

I'm very tight with my money so I'm not willing to pay £10 + postage when I can pay around €5

I was thinking of connecting it straight to the plug on the center console with an "in line fuse", it is mainly to have a rechargeable torch plugged in

I don't have a power supply in the centre console. Would the wiring be there?

I guess... it's a easy check, only 4 bolts to lift console

Iirc the wiring is tucked under the carpet next to where the handbrake bolts on.

My 2004 has the wiring in the console.
