Hi everyone.

I'm trying about buying a Land Rover Freelander 1.8 2000. It has 76k miles and costs £1100.

I've read the reviews about the headgasket issues but wanted some opinions from owners on here?

The Freelander I've found suits nicely into my budget and is an ideal car for my needs. Now, I personally wouldn't mind having to replace the headgasket once but is there a risk of it busting a headgasket more than once throughout the cars life? I wouldn't want to replace it every year.

I'm at a loss whether I could take a risk and buy it or run for the hills as it were.

Would be good to hear your opinions.

Thanks

Which ever Freelander you go for budget for a new VCU - if 1.8 budget for HGaskit
if TD4 prepare for fuel pump issues if service record is non existant..........
I have discovered these are not the cheapest of beasties to keep on the road........
and people neglect them ...... and then things mount up........ it's still a great suv -
they just need a little TLC.

ive changed a few k series engine gaskets the aftermarket gasket usually have steel pressure rings around the cylinder where as the original was rubber:rolleyes: after a skim and rebuild they seemed ok still dont like freelanders though :D

For your budget of around a grand you'd be better off looking at an early Rav4. If you want a Freelander then try to get a bit more cash & go diesel.
