That was the original plan, but the more I looked at the rust the more daunting it seemed to take an angle grinder to it, I managed to produce some acceptable welds on nice clean shiny metal working on a bench, but figured that old rusty metal at different angles would be a different matter.

Just off the M60, J21, I had intended to sell it as is, but i've been getting some astronomical quotes on other cars, (it seems that my no-claims has lapsed since i've been insured with Lancaster insurance), so I reckon If I can't sell this I might as well get it fixed and keep it, hopefully...

Well done, I had my outer sills replaced last year by a local radiator/welding co. (I chickened out after buying a welder). But if it fails again this year on welding i'm going to have a go myself.
