    With the handbrake off (parked overnight) there was no locking of the wheels in the morning! I drove a short spell, parked up, applied the handbrake... On my return, the back wheels were locked. Therefore as suggested I now understand it to be a brake problem and not a final drive problem...

    I'll leave the handbrake off tonight, see if they stick in the morning, if not its a final drive problem and will check the oil in the day... If it is a final drive problem, will topping it uo with oil be the solution> Or, will there be damage to the gearwhels in the differential as it says in...

    Ooop's! Now you mention it, it was mentioned a few months ago that there was a small leak from a seal? in the back wheel axle. How do i know if there is oil in it and what oil should i use to fill it and where do i top it up, I don't mind doing it myself. Thanks Wilma

    Hi Howardo, It sounds fine when driving, there was a slight grating from the back wheel passenger side after driving through lots of water, but it seems fine now. How should I go about checking the handbrake and what's the final drive thing? Thanks, Wilma :hippie:

    Hello Men, My Commercial Freelander 05 registration has a problem, I use it for work most days, when I can get it to move... I have taken the vehicle to KWIK-FIT, they checked the brakes and said they were like new? In the mornings, I start up the engine, handbrake off and the back wheels...
