Thanks for the detailed reply, it has taken 25 years to get to 200k we have owned her for the last 5 but prior to this the service history is sketchy.

So here is the Sunday evening question My 300tdi has just reached 200k - runs happily at 50mph and had annual services, oils filters etc. What should I do to make sure the engine reaches 400k ? Looking for 1 or 2 must do’s Thanks everyone

The bolt is OUT ! Although I could put it down to the first stage of Jedi mastery it was a combination of Plusgas, wire brush, Dremel work to cut a Screwdriver groove, a whack or two with a hammer and persistent patience.... thank you all

Thanks for your help, Plusgas purchase tomorrow and hopefully better than WD40 as although I have cut a slot for a screw driver in the bolt head, I am not able to get any movement yet ...

Thanks, I do have these, but struggling for good access behind the exhaust pipe, it would be that bolt wouldn’t it !
