td4 temp gauge is on max and red light is on

My temp gauge often goes into the red even when the engine is cold. The problem is the connections for the display, I can hit the top of the speedo and it will reset the temp gauge. This is down to a weak connection in the wiring. But I don't get the red light.

Change the crankcase breather filter NOW!

Oops, sorry I meant £250 + £100 bond - so £250 for turbo. This was average price on eBay and I didn't want to chance chancing the core.

Change the crankcase breather filter NOW!

Well new turbo on and test run good, well after initial scare - first couple of miles still smoking bad but then burnt off. Now have a further problem, must have nipped/kinked oil return pipe which has now developed a split! New one ordered but looks like IRD will have to come off to fit new...

Wise move - changing it. I've just got the turbo off (the two 13mm bolts are a killer - step 11) Its full of oil so ebay for a new one.

Change the crankcase breather filter NOW!

Thanks for the tip. The return oil line is the reason turbo not removed - stopped for the day to recharge enthusiasm! (and find the bolts for step 11) Using the following method: gb8man gb8man is offline Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Posts: 19 Default how to change turbo on...

Change the crankcase breather filter NOW!

My 2003 TD4 auto has now got a suspected blown turbo and I think its all down to my lazy arse not changing the crankcase breather filter! This is why: I noticed a small amount of oil seeping out of the dip stick and pulled it out when the engine running - this got some oil venting out of the...

    Horn not working

This may sound strange but have you changed the radio? The horn and clock are linked through the radio some how? This came to light when I changed my radio. Strange but true, hope this helps.

    Rear window calibration

This is yet another thread on the rear window failing to open. I'm not after advice but intend giving beginners a simple starting point. My rear window failed to open or drop thus preventing the rear door opening and the rear wiper operating. There are lots of threads on this subject but...

    Rear fog lights

Gary Just checked the lights and they work ! I don't have a fog light on them (I only have a tow hitch bike rack.) Looks like the previous owner got the rest right. Thanks for the tip. Gavin

    Rear fog lights

Thanks. I saw that this could be a common fault because it is easy to see why they just cut the wire and did not think about the full effect. They probably tested the lights with trailer lights fitted and all was well. But i agree if you fix it let people know.

    Rear fog lights

Fixed> The previous owner had fitted a tow hitch and when he wired the electrics he chopped the cable! The feed runs from the RH to LH along the rear door sill, he had cut this and put the towing electrics in series, so works fine when towing but no LH when no trailer electrics plugged in. I...
