Stick with the White tune resistor for sure as if you change to the green one itwill stop your ECU looking at the Lambdas so you remove the ECU's ability to adjust its fuelling parameters.

I'de be interested in how this job goes as will be doing myn next year I think.
Boot floor and sills this year for me though lol

The pin closest to your radiator in this picture goes to the negative side of the coil (its the trigger from the amp to the coil)
The other pin (the one in the side direction as the amplifier itself) goes to the positive side of the coil. Make sure this is a 12 volt feed to your coil though...

Its surprising how forgiving these engines are lol.

The coils should not be any different from the 3.5 and 3.9 models as both use an electronic distributor with an amplifier either bolted on the side of the distributor (200 shape discos and range rover classics) or mounted on a plate near the coil on 300 shape discos and I think soft dash range...

I used to work for RPI. Holly wasn't trying to sell me anything was just simply offering me advise. :-)
Each to there own though.

I was over at RPi yesterday so ran this one past there engine builder for you. His immediate question was have you fitted new rockers. If so they are known to be faulty and leak too much oil out :-)
-
V
I've run anything from 10 / 40 to 20 / 50 in myn and many others such a small change in oil grade should cause issue with the oil pressure switch.
These old V8's have hardly any oil pressure at isle when warm anyway they have more flow. Take a rocker cover off and fire the engine up to make...

Hmm there is no LIKE button or I AGREE button on this forum (Well not that I can find)
But I go 100% along with Georgey Dee's reply. Sound electrical advice.
Also just noticed Georgey you must be relatively local to me (I'm by Snetterton race track) where you at mate?

I think even using a pressure washer would not completely unblock the inside of the rad as the water will still flow through the easiest part. Could be worth a try though as its not going to cost anything but time. Unless you don't own a pressure washer and need to buy one, then it will cost :-)

Stupid things is when the previous owner removed the cats he should have left the lambdas in and the white tune resistor lol
Main things though is that you have got it sorted and now have the correct tune resistor for your setup.
I presume you are not running on LPG?

Do you know or can you find out what colour the cables are of the tune resistor they fitted?
I'm going to guess white :-) but please confirm.

Start the engine from cold, start a timer at the same time. When the ticking comes in stop the timer.
99% certain that if you do the same the next day the tick will start at the same time which mean loose liner / cracked block.
Sorry for the bad news but better know straight away rather...

Well done mate.
Handy little bit of knowledge for the potential future of TDi ownership :-)

My thoughts exactly texpis.
Spot on with the tune resistors but cant see it changing things to the extents that you detailed in your earlier posts. Would definitely be worth while finding out exactly what the garage did.
