Dare i say head gasket gone?, mine heated up and cool down and lost power (limp home mode) before i found out H/gasket had blown. Are you loseing water, check levels, is oil creamy white, have a sniff test done and this will tell you if h/g is gone.

Well brighton and back, 340 miles and just one notch below half a tank, did 70 or below at all times with cruise on. Im well happy with her.Will update total milage when near to run out 15 miles after light on.Cheers for all the comments

I had this same problem, lost water, overheated, went into 'get me home mode', head gasket replaced, but no power at all, local inde who did head gasket was puzzled, took it somewhere else and what had happened was the plastic insert in the injecters had melted and restricted there performance...

Glow plugs were blasted and buckled, i wait to see if smoke goes?

TD5 auto disco, How many glow plugs has it got 4 or 5 ? Have replaced 4 no problem working from front to back of engine but where is the 5th one, have found some diesel pipe (could be fuel feed and wire and plug, but no glow plug. I is confused

Cheers for that, have ordered and will fit new glow plugs anyway as i bet after 85K miles they are still on the first set, i have not had them done and i have had it 4 yrs. it wouldnt even turn over today just a click, have fast charged battery and got terrible screach noise Starter motor ...

Sorry i must be totally thick, but to check. You fill the auto gear box with trans oil down the dipstick for engine oil? how do you know its got correct lavel in auto box, i thought it was all done by plug hole underneath somewhere.Sorry to questiom just don`t want to fook it up
